In these ballet classes, your child will continue to work on coordination and control of their body’s movements through stretching and basic ballet technique. As your child gets older, their bodies grow and their coordination improves.We will focus more on vocabulary and variations to the basics of ballet. Through fun games, prompts, and ballet music, your child will enhance their foundation in dance. A demonstration for families and friends will be held during the last class of the session. Primary Ballet provides young children with play-based creative explorations in dance technique following the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. Each class incorporates a progression of movement activities. Children will bend, balance, stretch, spin, and leap through a series of ballet-based combinations led by a fully-certified teaching artist from Princeton Dance and Theater Studio. Sophia Kravets received her early training at Princeton Ballet School and continued her advanced dance studies at Princeton Dance and Theater Studio in the esteemed Conservatory Program. She has been a company member with Princeton Youth Ballet for six seasons performing principal, soloist, and ensemble roles in such works as The Nutcracker, Graduation Ball, Carnival of the Animals, The Snow Queen, The Sleeping Beauty, The Secret Garden, and Cinderella.
As a student, Ms. Kravets achieved honors in the completion of her American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum Examinations displaying detailed understanding and skill in the technique and theory of classical ballet. Ms. Kravets developed her interest in teaching as a student assistant spending five years as a regular assistant in the classroom building skills to engage students with energy, methodology, and compassion.
Ms. Kravets has successfully completed the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum teacher training for levels Pre-Primary through Level 3 and is thrilled to bring her knowledge, engaging presence, and passion to PDT students.
